What does it matter what you say about
People? They will be who they are at heart
No matter what you think, no matter how you shout
Corrections at
them. They will play the part
Their flaws have written for them, and their strength
Will either rise
or fall to the occasion.
A life is never measured by its length
But by its truth,
and by that truth’s evasion.
And if, before he dies, a man sees past
His lies with
honesty and clarity
And finds self-knowledge as he breathes his last,
Then what he lived
survives mortality.
Knowing all
that and loving him, what can
You say, but
that he was some kind of man.
